Spring/Summer Skin Special Package
I Made it to the Finals in the Skin Games Competition 2018
I'm so excited to share with you all that I Have Been Chosen as a Finalist in the International “Skin Games” Competition
I am so proud and honored to share some big news with you all.
I recently found out that I have been chosen as a finalist in The Skin Games, an international competition for skincare professionals showcasing the best results in the industry.
I am competing in the holistic category for this year’s event as one of nine that will be interview and judged during the live competition held on April 7, 2018, in San Ramon, California.
To take part, I selected a model and designed an 8 week protocol where I performed a facial treatment each week. I tracked progress through before and after photos, weekly video diaries and written case studiesof all treatments and results.
The holistic category is designed to highlight professionals who treat clients in a more comp- rehensive way by relaxing the mind, soothing the body and nurturing the spirit. Judging will be based on:
* Visual improvement in the client’s skin
* Protocol and planning for home care
* Modality and product knowledge
* Compliance and standards
For the competition, I was sponsored by SAIAN Natural Clinical Skincare. SAIAN is a plant-based product line that delivers dramatic instant, cumulative and long-lasting results. The Saian products were used in combination with different tools and machines. Saian also provided selections of products for at home to help the client achieve the best results.
The proven products, thoughtful treatments, and complementary technologies all worked together to reveal noticeable differences in my client’s skin. I’m thrilled that she experienced such great results and that I was chosen to demonstrate that a holistic approach can be a great option for transforming the skin.
The live show will be featured in Skin Inc. Magazine.

360 Face Mind Body also offers the latest technology in skin care to enhance treatment results, such as LED, micro-phototherapy, micro-current, galvanic and oxygen treatments, REZENERATE, radio frequency and dermaplaning.
UPDATE: Unfortunately I did not win or place in the Holistic Category but I had an amazing time as a player in the Skin Games, learning about new technology and skin care lines, meeting industry leaders and other estheticians from around the globe. The experience was truly a positive growth experience and I am blessed to have been chosen as a finalist.
Thank you so much for all of the support and well wishes,
Michelle Maynard

Summer Skin ---
Facial Treatments & Good Home Care are Important During Summer Months.
Summer is NOT the time to give up on your skin care regimen. Some people downplay the importance of getting regular facials in the summer time because many people will be outdoors and they figure why bother if "I'm getting tan". While it is true that we will all be spending more time outdoors soaking up some much needed vitamin D, (hey I like being outside in the sun too), there are some important things that we still need to do to keep our skin healthy and vibrant throughout the hot summer We are exposing our skin, to sun, the ocean, pools, sunscreens and other external elements such as free radicals, all of which can damage our skin .
To offset the effects of summertime, facials reset skin by clearing out pores, exfoliating dead skin and working to de-stress and rehydrate the skin.
Everyone can benefit from getting facials at least every 4-6 weeks during summer months.
Deciding which facial is right for you
Teens - 30 year olds - a Relaxation Facial as it is a great pore cleansing facial utilizing the amazing organic Farmaesthetics skin care line. It includes, skin analysis, exfoliation under steam, hand & arm massage, extractions, massage, treatment oils, creams and mask.
If you tend to break out, try one either our Pore Perfecting Facial we use the amazing Saian Natural Clinical line or the Acne ClearTouch Lite Treatment which uses light treatments to help clear acne beneath the surface of the skin.
If Age-management is your concern, we have some amazing facials for the 30 and over group that is looking for a pick me up to really refresh & revitalize their skin. We offer Micro-phototherapy, LED, Micro-current & Galvanic, Oxygen treatments and the brand new Rezenerate Treatment for both acne and anti-aging.
You can even “build your own facial”.
Ex.) a Microphototherapy facial is $100, you can enhance it (or add on) Oxygen Infusion onto your treatment for $35. We can mix and match treatments to customize it to your needs and desires.
Home Care and Why it is important
Wash your face before bed and after sweating (and be sure to reapply sunscreen). Sweating releases the body’s toxins out through the pores and if sweat sits on your face for long it can become a breeding ground for bacteria which may lead to a breakout, inflammation, and clogged pores. My personal favorite cleanser is Farmaesthetics Fine Herbal Cleanser - made for all skin types.
Anyone 30 and older should be using serums that protect against free radicals that damage skin and cause premature aging. It’s just as important to build up skin defenses against free radicals. The important antioxidants, peptides, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C serums will keep the skin protected against fine lines, wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation and uneven complexion. These anti-inflammatories also help fight excess redness (inflammation). My personal favorite serums to use are Saian Natural Clinical Pure Hyaluronic Acid, Pure Vitamin C Serum and Active Renewal Serum.
Moisturize your skin with a moisturizer that helps your skin retain moisture and balance. Most people aren’t aware that going in and out of air conditioned environments and into the scorching sun can severely dehydrate the skin. Dehydrated skin can start to itch and flake leading to other concerns relating to premature aging. Stay hydrated to keep your skin fortified with moisture from the inside out. Drink plenty of water and eat fruits and vegetables and anything else with high water content, like green tea.
My personal favorite moisturizers are Farmaesthetics Nourishing Lavender Milk, Midnight Honey Oil and Saian’s Diamant Creme.
Use a GOOD sunscreen- it really is worth the money.
Try to use organic sunscreens that are non-comedogenic and do not clog pores. I love the COOLA Organic Suncare line . The COOLA line provides plant-based protection without clogging the pores.
Just One More Reason Why I believe in Skin Care Treatments & Products
This weekend as I was at a friends cookout, I received a few very nice compliments about the condition of my skin. One person said “you don’t have any wrinkles” and another one told me I looked younger than my age. Perhaps they were being nice because I’m sure I do have some wrinkles but lets face it, as an esthetician, I know what truly helps to maintain the health of the skin. I also know that if I do not keep up with my skin care routine and treatments, my skin can look dull, dehydrated, tired and old! The treatments and the products that I have at 360 Face Mind Body are what keeps my skin looking healthy. I did not always have healthy skin, I have been a cystic acne sufferer in the past and have had lots of hyper-pigmentation and redness in my skin. My skin is far from perfect but with the right treatments and the right home care regimen, I am much happier with how it can look now in comparison to how my skin has looked in the past before practicing these habits.
So here’s the bottom line-- don’t let your skin care routine go during the summer. Wash, cleanse, use serums, moisturize, use a quality sunscreen (keep a hat handy too) and make an appointment for a facial every once in a while. You will see the difference in your skin, believe me.

Happy Summer,

Micro-PhotoTherapy and Oxygen Infusion Treatments
to Improve your Skin’s Appearance
by Michelle Maynard, Licensed esthetician & owner of 360 Face Mind Body
Being in the skin care industry, many people (clients, friends, family members etc.) ask me how to get their skin in its optimal health. Like anything else, you need to be committed to a skin care regimen that will help reveal that healthy skin glow. Healthy habits are necessary. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and drinking enough water is important and yes, a home care regimen using professional products will certainly help to hydrate the skin, and also extend the benefits of getting regular facials. Professional products DO make a difference and they should be organic or vegan if possible. If over the age of 30 include a serum to help to give your skin a firmer, smoother texture, make pores appear smaller and increase moisture levels.
Routine facials can do a lot of great things for our skin. Facials help to increase circulation, exfoliate the skin, hydrate the skin, increase cell turnover, minimize lines, discoloration and acne breakouts. Facial treatments can be customized to suit each individual’s particular needs.
Age Management Facials
Now we delve into the exciting area of age management treatments. Clients who are more concerned with age management want to know how they can either keep their skin looking fantastic or how they can recapture that youthful glow.
At 360 Face Mind Body, clients are offered innovative, non-invasive and effective treatments to help their skin look and feel its best. One of the most popular treatments on the menu at 360 Face Mind Body is the Micro-phototherapy facial. Micro-phototherapy is a non-ablative, non-invasive procedure that softens fine lines, plumps up the skin, evens out skin tone, decreases pore size and improves overall skin texture. This treatment combines the healing power of light and heat energy to work deep beneath the surface of the skin. The combined heat and light create a mild thermal insult that cannot be seen but it signals the body to increase collagen and elastin production. Additionally, these soothing pulses of heat and light work together to even out skin tone, smooth skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, increase skin elasticity, decrease pore size, enhance absorption of creams and lotions. The best part is that there is no pain or down time and with a series of treatments the results are remarkable.
360 Face Mind Body has also started to offer oxygen infusion facials which have exploded onto the beauty scene in the past few years. Oxygen infusion treatments immediately revitalize the skin and hide even the slightest imperfections. The increase in popularity of oxygen infusion treatments is largely due to the instant results characterized by a smoothing and plumping of the skin's surface. The procedure is painless and requires no harsh chemical peels, it oxygenates the skin so that it can heal itself more quickly. Oxygen is sprayed at a high pressure directly onto the skin's surface. A serum containing active ingredients (nutrients, vitamins and sometimes peptides) are atomized and delivered as a fine mist and then infused or pushed into the skin. The oxygen acts the delivery system that opens up the skin's pores to allow increased absorption of the active ingredients. The infusion of oxygen and vitamins will strengthen new cell growth as well as collagen. This treatment may also rejuvenate skin that has been exposed to pollutants, such as tobacco smoke and other toxins that starve cells of their oxygen. An oxygen facial is much more affordable than injections or other chemical facial fillers. This treatment has been used to lighten the appearance of acne scars, as it is believed that the infusion of oxygen increases the production of new skin cells at a faster rate and reduces the appearance of blemishes. Oxygen facials do not usually cause any side effects or sensitivities. It is a gentle treatment and a viable option for those with sensitive skin.
The oxygen infusion machine that we use at 360 Face Mind Body has an option of also using an exfoliating tip! The pressure and performance of the oxygen machine is combined with an exfoliation process happening at the same time for super-hydrated, smooth, plump skin.
Combining micro-phototherapy and oxygen infusions results in what can only be described as a 5 Star Red Carpet treatment. Its no wonder many of the A-listers swear by these types of facial treatment modalities-- the results are undeniable and immediate!
The Micro-phototherapy Oxygen treatments take about an hour and twenty minutes and the price is $125 per treatment. How often should you have a treatment depends on your age and the condition of the skin.

LED Light Treatments - Improving your Appearance
& Possibly Your Mood
LED (Light Emitting Diode) is an energy therapy based on important research by NASA that has demonstrated how frequencies of light wavelengths significantly increase cell growth. The research has shown how LED enhances tissue growth, increases circulation and the production of collagen and elastin. LED also reduces inflammation, fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage. The body responds to LED by converting light energy into cell energy (adenosine try-phosphate). Because LED light therapy is non-invasive and does not produce heat, it causes no inflammation, and there are no post-treatment requirements.
As we age, our skin loses some of its ability to heal and restore itself and we experience a reduction of collagen and elastin (both are essential in maintaining the physical appearance and vitality of skin). We also become more prone to physical flaws such as scar tissue, toxins and waste build-up resulting in wrinkles, sunspots, hyper-pigmentation and acne. Varying frequencies of low-level infrared and visible red light give skin the necessary assistance to reduce these signs of aging. These wavelengths of light can also help with pain management, wound healing, and scar reduction.
Red LED activates the cellular renewal process while restoring and protecting the epidermis. The reaction in the body is increased collagen and elastin production and tissue repair which can reduce and possibly reverse the effects of aging and damage to skin. There are more than 2,500 research papers including double blind studies that have recorded the effectiveness of using red and infrared light therapy to stimulate rejuvenation in damaged tissues. LED is proving to be an effective treatment for aging skin, acne, rosacea and other skin conditions. Most pleasing to clients is that results are often immediate.
The Blue LED Light produces singlet oxygen that is toxic to acne causing bacteria and helps to decrease acne with absolutely no downtime. Depending on the severity, a series of treatments may be necessary to clear all active acne. Blue light is emerging as particularly beneficial for mood regulation. One study completed by the Light Research Program at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia found the connections between areas in the brain that process language and emotion were stimulated and strengthened after exposure to blue light.
Blue light is prevalent in outdoor daylight, so the body absorbs the most during the summer and much less in the winter. Because of this, the researchers suggested that adding blue light to indoor atmospheres, in place of yellow lights may help boost mood and productivity year-round, especially during the winter. The added advantage of blue light is that there are no UVA or UVB damaging rays. Blue light may be more effective than the bright white light often used in light boxes to treat SAD and other forms of depression.
The brain hormone serotonin that is associated with pain perception, the sleep/wake cycle and mood elevation, rises with exposure to bright light and falls with decreased sun exposure. This has been proven by many scientific studies, including one reported in the well-respected Medical Journal Lancet in 2002. This study measured blood levels of serotonin, finding that production of serotonin by the brain was directly related to the duration of bright sunlight.
In a more recent study, people who were exposed to blue light for an hour a day for three weeks experienced improvements in their moods, had regulated sleep patterns and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol. These results reported in the light-therapy group were similar to those experienced by using antidepressant drugs.
When we combine blue, red and infrared LED light, we have an amazing treatment with many benefits. At 360 Face Mind Body, we offer Celluma LED facial treatments to our clients. The Celluma created by BioPhotas, Inc. is a specialized, flexible light emitting diode (LED) panel measuring over 15” x 8” that can be molded to fit the area it is treating.
The Celluma is designed to re-establish cellular health, and provide the energy that cells can use to:
- accelerate the production of collagen and elastin
- increase cellular permeability, allowing for increased cellular nutrient intake
- increase the removal of excess fluid and waste products from the cells
- increase the production of macrophage (scavenger) cells for the removal of toxins/excess pigment/scar tissue
- increase lymphatic drainage
- increase vascularization (blood flow) to the surface of the skin
The Celluma has a patented delivery system that releases three particular wavelengths of pulsed light that work synergistically to target a variety of conditions. The Celluma can be used in anti-aging, to treat arthritis, muscle spasm, muscle and joint pain, muscle tissue tension, joint and muscle stiffness, diminished local circulation and inflammatory acne vulgaris.
LED Treatments times under the panel are approximately 30 minutes and are generally perceived as pleasant and relaxing. Celluma LED is safer more affordable than laser therapy, provides great results and is unlike any other professional LED device available today.
